So it's really more group patrolling. With an admission fee. And a tour guide. Plus Joe's coffee and treats afterward. Friday night at 8:30 PM. Bring Your Own Stake.

Historic Oakland Cemetery
Capturing the Halloween Spirit
October 27, 28, & 29, 2006

Oakland knows Halloween like no other place in Atlanta! This year, its stories come alive as never before. Join the Historic Oakland Foundation at the final resting place of Atlanta's rich and famous. For these three evenings only, you will be able to view the interiors of beautiful mausoleums and bear witness as "residents" return to life and offer their insights into local history.

Bring a flashlight and wear comfortable walking shoes for this one-of-a-kind, guided walking tour.

Before and after your tour, Joe's Coffee (East Atlanta) and Perk Coffee (Glenwood Park) will be on hand to provide refreshments* to the strains of Paul Mercer's haunting violin. You will also have the opportunity to browse in Oakland's unique Museum Shop (How about a chocolate tombstone?). * a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Historic Oakland Foundation.

Tours depart from the Bell Tower every few minutes beginning at 7 pm. and are expected to last a little over an hour. The last tour departs at 9:15 pm.

Admission: Adults (18-64) $10; Students (with ID) $5; Seniors (65 and older) $3; Children (6-17) $5*; Historic Oakland Foundation members FREE (with membership card)
* This evening was not designed to appeal to young children, though some upper elementary and Sunnydale high school students might enjoy it.

Complimentary Parking is available in a lot near the gate and on neighboring streets. Carpooling or Marta* are suggested. * Oakland is located adjacent to the King Memorial station.

COSTUMES ARE WELCOME AND HIGHLY ENCOURAGED!!!
(Though you may want to reconsider the vampire costume)

This is seperate from the general festivities. Cassi can't go (foot), so I will probably head out early.

I haven't done anything about a costume. Potato chips seem reasonable to me. Do they go with your costume?
