scary costumes
Along with Lava Girl, Sushi and Cave Woman, Awesome-O and Atomic Wedgie were among some of the incredibly creative costumes I saw this weekend.
Others worth honorable mention that I did not get photos of...
Fly Fisherman - fisherman with black wings and six black legs.
Christen's Construction Worker - accessories were truly authentic
Eminem - probably helped that the guy resembled him a little bit, but still a well put together costume.
Cock Knocker - okay, Shaun wasn't dressed up as Cock Knocker, but he has in the past and it's still funny.
What did you see this Halloween?
piedmont and monroe

We arrrr really compressed...
Notice the #12 bow number... behind us!?!?!?
If you weren't sure, we definitely passed them.
international state of emergency!!
Harry Potter's "flying" car is stolenThe "flying" Ford Anglia used in the Harry Potter films has been stolen from a film studio lot, police said on Friday.
"For those who have not seen the Harry Potter films, this is the car that flies in the movies and is very well known," a police spokesman said.
The blue Anglia went missing from South West Film Studios at St Agnes in the southwestern English county of Cornwall.
"The film prop was being stored under a tarpaulin. It was not in good condition and could not have been driven away under its own steam," the police spokesman said.
I GOT IT!!!!

movie game
I need help figuring out the last three images of a movie game. The goal is to get the movie title from people-removed stills. Do you recognize any of these? Please comment. Thank you for your assistance in this crucial work-avoidance matter.
lucky #13, lucky #7
The
Charles was good to us again this year. Thirteenth out of the shoot, the
Hooch Pirates moved down the course with a purpose. We cruised through MIT - on their home course no less - and then gunned down Nereid. Cal Berkeley took a bit more time and made for a more exciting race, but in the end they too were forced to yield.
We came in
7 out of 17. We clocked in 1:36 faster than our imaginary training rivals N.C. State. We beat out two formidable Canadian crews. We came within 5 second of Princeton. We took down last year's winner Radcliffe.
It was a good race.
we are winners
The officials were so blown away by our speed (and our attire, ARRRR!), the whole timing system broke down! The photographer didn't have time to focus either.

this kitten needs a home
The current caretaker needs to find a loving home for this cutest of all kittens.
Will you be a good parent? It is a girl, and she is already using a litter box. I'm currently not aware of her history of shots. Will post when I find out.
Atlanta area folks leave a comment if you are interested.
Darci you
will put yourself in for consideration.
my name is shelly...
and I am a book-o-holic.
I like books. I like to read them. Moreover, I like to own them. After Thursday's trip to the used book fair at
Lenox (you should check it out), I came home with 12+ books. I would have gotten more, but I couldn't carry any more.
After alphabetically inserting my purchases into my modest library, it dawned on me... I have a lot of books I haven't read. So I counted them. Thirty. 30! I felt like a literary poser. So I hereby resolve to not buy any more books until I have read, well, ah, at least, let's see, five books. I will only buy one book for each five that I read until I've caught up.
So which one would you read next? Seriously, let me know. Consider this a book review request. Your help is greatly appreciated.

au revoir, carter
Carter is my hair stylist. She's the one person I've trusted to make decisions for me for the last 6 years. Carter's last day was yesterday. She is moving to Chicago. I miss her already.
If you live in Chicago and want a great cut with a great person, go to
Salon Buzz and ask for Erin (also known as Carter in Atlanta).
birthdays
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JOSEPH!
He's my brother. He's 28. He's getting old. Doesn't really seem like it to me though. Maybe after Houston is born I'll think differently.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, CASSI!
She's my friend. She's 26. Seems like she should be older. Not that she looks it or anything. She just seems like my age.

breaking news?
Tom Cruise gets Katie Holmes pregnantEither one of those crazy bastards is coming out with a movie and they've jumped the publicity stunt into overdrive, or things have gotten terribly out of hand and Katie Holmes is actually pregnant.
