the calm before the storm
That's what it feels like right now. I'm forced to go through the motions of the day. Waiting. Waiting before we begin the long trek to the ends of the earth... to the suburban wasteland... home to the treasure... to the mecca that isDisclaimer: If ANYONE even so much as mimes ANYTHING, true or false, about this movie before I get to enjoy it for myself, I will hit you. Hard. I mean it. I will track your blogging-ass down and I will pummel you.

proper etiquette
When invited to a gathering at a friends home (or busting in to stay the night in Chattanooga), it is a good idea to thank your host/hostess with a small gift.Etiquette gurus indicate that the gift be something small and one which the hostess will not feel the need to use that night (i.e. dessert or flowers). Some common hostess gifts include wine, candles, and fancy chocolates. A personally made item can also add that extra touch. With a small amount of effort, you can truly make a personal statement.

celebratory dance
WINNERS! WE ARE WINNERS! WE ARE WINNERS! WE ARE WINNERS! WE ARE WINNERS! WE ARE WINNERS! WE ARE WINNERS! WE ARE WINNERS! WE ARE WINNERS! WE ARE WINNERS! WE ARE WINNERS! WE ARE WINNERS! WE ARE WINNERS! and now we dance...Many thanks to everyone who helped make our weekend a success: Sara and Jarrett for their wonderful hospitality, John for the phone call which led to a lot of other people to thank, two crazy guys from Mississippi for driving 105 mph so Ree could weigh-in and eat dinner, Hody for bending some rules which allowed us to pay back the fellas from Ole Miss, Elise and Dana for letting Ree weigh-in after 9 PM, the great Liz Henry for coxing, the now world renowned Aimee Ettel and the up-and-coming Greta for being there the whole season. Oh yeah, and us... for making sure there were five medals in the envelope and for not even considering anything but gold.

brokeback mountain
Sign up for a special advanced screening of Brokeback Mountain. An Ang Lee film starring Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal. This movie is based upon a short story of the same title by E. Annie Proulx.
Premise: Set in Texas and Wyoming, this is the romantic tale of two male cowboys from very different backgrounds who meet and fall in love while working together as sheep ranch hands near Wyoming's Brokeback Mountain the summer of 1961. Their lives take different courses, however, with Jack Twist (Gyllenhaal) becoming a rodeo cowboy while Ennis Del Mar (Ledger) remains a ranch hand, and the film follows their lives as they see each other again over the next 20 years. Their relationship is rocky, however, as they must deal with the challenges posed as the intolerance of pre-(and post)-Stonewall rural America rears its ugly, violent head against the two lovers.
Michelle Williams plays Ledger's wife. Anne Hathaway plays Gyllenhaal's wife. Dennis Quaid plays a ranch foreman.
